Job description
Interested in joining a supportive, inclusive, and diverse team in an international legal business? Our Motor Volume team at DWF provide expertise in claims related to Road Traffic Accidents that have resulted in financial loss and are currently hiring for a Paralegal to join their team in Leeds or Manchester.
DWF is a global legal business providing Complex, Managed and Connected Services. We empower people to be themselves within an inclusive and supportive environment, enabling everyone to achieve their full potential in line with their abilities and career aspirations.
In the Motor Volume team we issue county court proceedings for our clients to pursue a recovery of monetary losses incurred as a result of road traffic accidents. Our instructions come from insurance companies and we act to recover their losses, as well as any uncontentious uninsured losses their policyholders have incurred. This type of work is subrogated recovery work, and we handle the matter pre-litigation all the way to a final hearing/trial, and conduct everything in-between. We predominantly handle Small Claims matters; however we'll handle any value work so long as no contentious uninsured losses have been incurred.
The role represents an opportunity to: action all activities on your files, including carrying out any investigative work; drafting court documents; negotiating liability and quantum; instructing/briefing counsel as well as instructing/carrying out enforcement action against debtors who fail to settle judgments we obtain on behalf of our clients.
Whilst the vast majority of work we handle is in relation to negligence, the circumstances that lead to the negligence are never the same, and therefore we're always being challenged to apply certain principles to unique circumstances which makes the work interesting.
Working in the Volume Recoveries team provides exposure to litigation and handling litigated work given that whilst we receive our instructions in their pre-litigated state, our instructions are to recover our client's losses, and usually the easiest/quickest way to do this is through litigation.
We understand the importance of offering you a reward package that goes beyond simply salary, and we want you to feel valued and rewarded by your time at DWF. That is why, when you join us, you will be given a choice. You can pick from a range of benefits, allowing you to build a package that suits your needs and lifestyle, as well as those of your family.
