Job description
We are seeking a Paralegal to join the Construction team in our Manchester office.
The successful candidate will have experience working with a construction team, or wider Real Estate team with an element of handling construction matters as part of their role. A graduate of Law or Construction Law would also be a distinct advantage, however further training within construction law will be provided.
The construction team at DWF specialise in both contentious and non contentious construction and engineering matters. Our team of experienced Solicitors offer a extensive experience of dispute resolution through litigation, arbitration, adjudication and ADR in addition to the drafting of standard / bespoke industry contracts and associated documents such as development agreements, JCT, NEC and ICE forms. We also offer advice on procurement strategy, risk management, project documentation and contracts.
Our clients include government departments, local authorities, contractors, sub-contractors and developers with instructions encompassing a diverse range of schemes such as large sports stadia, commercial/residential developments, education facilities, hospitals, office blocks and civil engineering works to name a few.
Main function of job: progress cases, with supervision, to an effective and satisfactory conclusion for clients whilst providing and maintaining management information under the terms of the client service level agreement.

Main Duties:
- Action all technical aspects of a case in line with practice group/client service standards and protocols.
- Efficient use of the Case Management system and/or use of standard documentation wherever appropriate to maximise cost efficiency.
- Proactively settle/assist in the settlement of cases to the satisfaction of the client whilst further developing legal technical knowledge and analysing risk where appropriate.
- Ensure financial targets are met.
- Prioritise work efficiently and effectively to ensure client service level agreements and deadlines are met.
- Understand the role in the context of the practice group and pro-actively seek to increase contribution via the allocation of work.
- Work flexibly in adjusting to changes in priority of workload as dictated by the practice group.
- Ensure complete client care in all cases, developing relationships with clients and potential clients/introducers.
