Job description
FM Conway is currently seeking a GIS Technician to join our Transport for London – HMPF contract. As our GIS Technician you will be performing highly accurate GIS asset inventory updates and asset site surveys as required on the Transport for London Road Network. You will work closely with the AMIS manager to ensure contract requirements are compliant as set out in the TfL contract. This is a permanent, full time position based from our Beddington Lane depot in Croydon, South London.

The GIS Technician role
- Undertaking desk-based data capture to convert paper maps to GIS datasets, for example, record the location of carriageway or road marking from original maps/as-built drawings
- Producing cartographic map outputs on demand
- Ensuring the best use of company resources in meeting contractual requirements
- Running weekly reports from our clients inventory system to obtain a list of completed works
What we are looking for in our GIS Technician
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has strong knowledge of map projections and modern cartographic standards and principals. You will have experience of using GIS, ESRI, QGIS, Map16 or other open sourced GIS skills. A GIS/Geography degree or relevant experience would be desirable but is not essential. A driving licence would be beneficial as travel to other sites may be required.
