Role Purpose
The Financial Promotions specialist paralegal role within the UK Consumer legal team provides support to the Consumer Legal Team as needed in relation to an array of consumer matters, with a primary focus on financial promotion advertising.
What you'll do
Advising on relevant a) consumer legislation, b) CAP and BCAP Codes and Guidance, c) ASA adjudications, d) CTSI Pricing Guidance and e) FCA handbook rules and guidance on financial promotions, in the context of Vodafone’s marketing and promotional materials.- Managing and responding to ASA complaints and investigations, competitor complaints and customer complaints.
- Liaising and negotiating with Clearcast and Radio Centre in relation to the clearance of TV & Radio ad
- Providing legal support on the development of any Vodafone consumer products and services, which includes advising on the impacts of consumer legislation, drafting/amending terms and advising on customer communications and sales journeys.
- Providing legal advice in relation to Vodafone’s external communications.
- Providing relevant legal terms for consumer facing marketing.
- Ensuring that Vodafone complies with relevant legal marketing guidelines.
- Providing support to the consumer legal counsels within the team and closely working with other Vodafone business teams (i.e., Regulatory, Compliance and Privacy).
- Supporting with updates to the team’s site.
Impact on the business
Delivering legal advice and support to internal teams within Vodafone UK to ensure that Vodafone’s communications comply with the relevant laws and self-regulatory codes. This includes:
a) Financial Promotions: reviewing marketing collateral & assessing risks based on the type of media formats.
b) Supporting with day-to-day advertising & product campaigns, including identifying potential issues (i.e., matters involving intellectual property, privacy, employment, tax, etc and engaging with the relevant teams as required).
c) Supporting the Brand team on innovative social advertising and influencer led campaigns.
d) Supporting the Sustainable Business team on purpose driven campaigns.
Supporting the Consumer legal team on non-advertising / general consumer legal matters.
Leadership and teamwork
To identify and communicate key legal issues to your Line Manager for onward reporting to the Lead Counsel as well as senior management.
Innovation and change
To monitor and identify forthcoming changes to and developments in consumer law and regulations.
Knowledge and experience
To oversee any legal and regulatory developments and support the consumer legal team with regular updates.
Who you are
University honours degrees, (second class or better).- Paralegal Qualification would be beneficial but not essential
- Knowledge and experience of ASA, CAP codes and FCA handbook rules and guidance on Financial promotions (CONC 3.2 financial promotion general guidance)
- An interest in the regulation of marketing and advertising
- Experience of working in an in-house environment (desirable but not essential).
- Knowledge or understanding of telecoms (desirable but not essential).
- Resourceful and hardworking - self motivating and able to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent time management skills - ability to manage multiple work streams and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills: you will need to deliver clear and concise advice, reports and documentation and deliver training accordingly to the audience.
- Good drafting and negotiation skills
