Job type: Permanent, full-time
Lester Aldridge wishes to recruit a Paralegal for our busy International Private Client team in the London office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Required to work on matters as directed by Partners in the team.
- Manage client expectations.
- To be able to deal with the basic legal elements of cases and continually able to learn to increase legal knowledge and then able to put this into practice.
- To comply with firm wide procedures, including client due diligence, letters of engagement, billing and time recording.
- To meet targets and to work as a team to help department targets.
- Identify and raise issues ensuring that a supervisor is made aware of potential issues.
- Able to switch roles to help team achieve results and able to work flexible hours where required.
- Able to learn quickly and support others as required to comply with systems.
- Assist with business development and understand what is required to obtain and keep clients and able to participate in business development activities.
- Deliver practical services of outstanding quality that are focused on the client’s needs and quick turnaround of matters dealt with by the team.
- Provide assistance to fee-earners.
- Open new files, update case management system (if applicable).
- On a daily basis review calendars to ensure deadlines are met and taking appropriate action as required.
- Update clients and other solicitors, taking actions agreed with fee-earner/team leader and report back progress.
- On a daily basis tie incoming post up with client files, update case management system (if applicable), liaise with fee-earners as to required tasks, deal with queries, agree action etc. Follow up matters and action points arising from meetings. Prepare files for completion.
- Prepare neat and accurate estate accounts or cash statements for clients to approve.
- Act with a high degree of caution and attention to detail when proposing to distribute estate funds or make payments to clients or beneficiaries.
- Able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
- LPC, Degree in Law, MILEX or equivalent is desirable.
- Continue with and complete any continuing education or professional qualifications (if applicable).
- Client contact skills are essential.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to hit/exceed targets.
