As a key member of the debt recovery department, you will be responsible for managing and assisting in the recovery of outstanding debts, negotiating payment arrangements, and supporting the legal proceedings involved in debt collection. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong background in debt recovery to contribute to the success of the firm and make a real difference in your clients’ financial recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Recover outstanding debts through effective negotiation and communication with debtors.
- Assist in the issuance of court proceedings, enforcements, and other legal actions as necessary.
- Liaise with clients, debtors, and other stakeholders to facilitate prompt debt resolution.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to gather relevant information for debt recovery cases.
- Prepare accurate documentation, including payment agreements, settlement offers, and legal notices.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date case files and records.
- Regularly communicate with clients, providing updates on the progress of debt recovery efforts.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including lawyers and paralegals, to support litigation activities.
- Adhere to legal and ethical standards, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and developments in debt recovery strategies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 12 months of experience in a similar debt recovery role within a law firm.
- In-depth knowledge of debt recovery procedures, legal frameworks, and relevant legislation.
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills with the ability to reach favourable settlements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in legal terminology.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Proficient in using case management software and other relevant tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to resolving challenges.
- Professional demeanour and excellent interpersonal skills when interacting with clients and colleagues.
