As part of the in-house legal team you will support the entire Blackfinch business. Your main focus in this highly varied and interesting role will be working as part of the deal teams providing legal support to the Blackfinch Property, Energy and Ventures teams acting on new and existing investment deals.
Key Accountabilities
Under the supervision of more senior members of the legal team, you will:
- Handle a mixed caseload of bridging, development & project finance and equity investments.
- Advise on the property, planning and development work of real estate, construction and renewables projects.
- Liaise with the commercial team members (mainly Energy, Property and Ventures), Blackfinch’s external advisors (lawyers, monitoring surveyors and
valuers) and Blackfinch’s counterparts and their advisors.
- Provide company secretarial, general corporate and commercial legal advice to the entire Blackfinch Group (including the Asset Management, Legacy EIS (Private Equity), Accounts, HR, Sales and Compliance teams).
- Draft legal documents using standard templates and proofread legal documents for content, quality, and consistency.
- Undertake day to day deal file management and various administrative duties including post-completion tasks such as Companies House and Land
Registry registrations and filings.
- Carry out due diligence and KYC requirements.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of legal templates, file management, best practice and legal know-how, research & training.
- Other duties commensurate with this level as requested by other members of the legal team
Essential Experience
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Able to carry out detailed legal and factual research in a timely manner.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Ability to grow and develop your skill set whilst taking ownership of projects.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads.
- High level of personal drive and initiative.
- Great interpersonal skills, a team player and proactive approach.
Essential Qualifications
- 2:1 degree or substantial previous experience in a senior legal secretarial position or as a fee earning paralegal/executive role in either corporate or commercial property law. -
It is important to note for transparency, that while we are passionate about developing our staff, we are not currently able to offer a Solicitors’ Training Contract.
This role is offered on a full time basis 39 hours per week or part-time basis - 25-30 hours per week over 5 days.
