Salary £11.75 rising to £12.50 per hour (rates effective from 1st October 2022)

The Role

As a Parachute Packer, you will be responsible for the maintenance of Airborne Systems Parachute Assemblies as directed by the Team Leader, in accordance with the MOD Air Publications.


Responsibilities

  • Inspecting and packing Parachute Assemblies in accordance with MOD Air Publications/Manuals and company procedures.
  • Packing a set average of parachutes each day, working sometimes on tables and on mats (floor).
  • Reading and understanding MOD Air Publications/Manuals.
  • Complying with the company quality policy.
  • Oral/written assessments at the end of each training module.
  • Adhering to relevant Health & Safety requirements including PPE.
  • Representing the Company supporting various trial and detachment activities if required.


If you can work under pressure, follow drawings and assembly instructions, and have a keen eye for detail, the role of Parachute Packer could be ideal for you. You will also require the following skills to succeed:

  • Organised and able to work to high standards
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Perseverance and motivation
  • Good reading, written & oral skills
  • Good level of manual dexterity
  • Capable of lifting up to 15 Kgs as an individual and 30 Kgs with additional support


This is a manual role therefore you will need to be physically fit as you may be required to spend all day standing or kneeling on mats and have to adhere to the strict use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
