Job description
Do you have a special interest in working with children and young people? We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience of working with children, to assist Physiotherapists in providing services to children and young people with special needs in a variety of settings in Harrow including schools, clinics, the hospital and aquatic therapy.
As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.
The post holder will work as part of the physiotherapy therapy team, assisting the therapists in providing a service to children with a range of physical difficulties and Special Educational Needs (SEN). This will involve working with individual and groups of children in various locations including special schools and in aquatic therapy. A significant proportion of these children will have English as their second language (EAL). He / she will be expected to work directly with children, under the direction of a Physiotherapist (PT) in addition to carrying out administrative duties to support the department’s activities. The post will involve travelling between locations (schools and the health centre) as required. Working under the guidance of therapists, she will carry out programmes directly with children, which will facilitate development of skills and access to the curriculum alongside education staff. The post holder will be involved in the administration of the paediatric therapy transition team, supporting therapists to ensure young people transition smoothly into adult services. He / she will be expected to work collaboratively with children and young people, parents/carers and families. The post holder will contribute to departmental meetings and project work and will assist in the delivery of training to school staff and parents, on all aspects of physiotherapy.
You will be joining a team of over 50 Paediatric Therapists offering access to specialists in all clinical areas, excellent support systems with personal appraisal, objectives and training plans designed to meet your specific needs/CPD requirements. Flexible working hours are available.
Please see job description and person specification for main duties and responsibilities required in this post.
