Job description
Due to a promotion we are looking for a new band 7 Dietetic Paediatric Team Leader.
The post holder would be expected to provide Dietetic care for complex Paediatric patients and managed the Dietetic Paediatric Team with the support of fellow Dietetic Paediatric Team Leader.
The post holder will combine a management/leadership role alongside a specialist clinical role.
The post holder would be expected to clinically supervise band 6 and band 5 Dietitians and Dietetic Assistants . They would also be expected to continually develop and evolve the Paediatric Dietetic team as well as lead on Paediatric Dietetics for the Trust providing guidance, training and policies as required. They would also be expected to support the wider Dietetic management team.
Clinically the post holder would be expected to manage a caseload of complex Paediatrics patients as well as a specialty area of respiratory including Cystic Fibrosis. Experience in respiratory care is desirable but not essential as training can be given. They would also be the expectation to support other Paediatric clinical caseloads as need arose along with others in the team.
The successful post holder will be part of the Paediatric Dietetic team which is primarily based at Royal Blackburn Hospital. The team consists of 2 x Band 7 (Team Leads), 6 x Band 6 (each with their own specialist clinical area), 1 x Band 5 (rotational) and 3 x band 3 Dietetic assistants.
The Paediatric Dietetic team work closely with their colleagues in the family division. The Child Health Service in East Lancashire is the largest centralised children’s service in the North West and one of the largest in the country. Centralized on the Royal Blackburn site are acute, surgical and emergency care. Inpatients includes a 51 bedded ward which includes 3 HDU beds, and a purpose built 15 bedded Children’s Observation and Assessment Unit (COAU). There are 9 Community Paediatricians, 21 acute Paediatricians and 9 Consultant Neonatologists in East Lancashire.
The Paediatric team is a part of the wider Dietetic Department. The Department has 90 Staff of which 45 are Dietitians and is well supported with Dietetic Assistants , Assistant Practitioners and admin staff. The department uses the electronic patient record system EMIS and a new electronic inpatient record system is currently in its implementation phase and will be up and running in June
The department offers student training to A,B and C placements and the post holder will be expected to be involved in clinical teaching and assessment of students on their placement so therefore previous student training experience is desirable.
East Lancashire has good transport links to Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and beyond and we are close to the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.
The post holder would be expected to work across the sites and localities of East Lancashire so the post would suit a car driver/owner.
