Position Summary: Lead and supervise a shift of packing teams in order to achieve required efficiency and cost effectiveness, whilst adhering to company procedures and customers’ requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organise packing teams workload in order to achieve required targets and accomplish packing plan on time.
- Organise, communicate, monitor and control packing teams everyday work load.
- Organise all resources needed to run packing shift smoothly and efficiently- WOs, labels, packaging, equipment, chocolate are in place and available prior start packing.
- Ensure packaging, chocolate, labels and relevant information for next packing shift are available and accessible in order to maximise productivity and eliminate any downtime.
- Rotate packaging to optimise space and capacity in packing and Goods out area.
- Ensure required packing targets are achieved.
- Ensure man hours are recorded accurately
- Set effective methods and operations to improve packing outputs.
- Motivate and lead packing line leaders and packing teams.
- Train, develop and evaluate Packing Line Leaders and Packing Line Operatives.
- Identify training needs and create development plans.
- Identify, problem-solve and communicate any issue potentially affecting output.
- Accomplish packing orders according to customers written specifications and codes of practice.
- Ensure the company’s food safety, quality procedures and specifications are strictly followed and accurate records are maintained.
- Cooperate with other Packing Supervisors/ Packing Manager to ensure overall optimisation and smooth handovers between shifts.
- Ensure the right use of metal detection and weigh checking machines against company’s procedures and relevant documentations are correctly filled.
- Communicate with production to maintain smooth process and avoid down time.
- Communicate with QA department to agree quality requirements and avoid quality issues.
- Support Packing Line Leaders in order to ensure the right Bill of Materials codes are in use and correct traceability is followed and recorded.
- Ensure correct labelling and dating procedures are in place.
- Ensure allergen colour coding practice is followed.
- Ensure packing area is kept clean and tidy and cleaning records are filled in.
- Ensure correct PPE is in place.
- Build an effective working relationship within Company’s departments and between shifts.
- Ensure food safety and health and safety rules are in place.
- Report any issues to Packing Manager/Technical Manager/ Supply Chain Manager
