Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for a Packaging Line Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This position is based at our Wrexham site, North Wales and reports directly to the Engineering Improvement Manager.

The successful applicant will have strong experience in three core areas:

Safety, Quality and People:

  • Knowledge of key safety legislation underpinning maintenance/engineering in a packaging line context, e.g. (but not limited to) PUWER, machine guarding and safety systems.

  • Use of 5S and other techniques to ensure housekeeping is maintained at a high-standard.

  • Ability to review RAMS from contractors and vendors performing work on equipment.

  • Lead investigator on unplanned events and take ownership of actions in the site quality systems.

  • Ensure equipment is always operating in a GMP compliant state and constantly review maintenance strategy to improve compliance.

  • Support of maintenance team by delivering training (through execution of a full training needs analysis), ownership of visual management systems, and involvement in complex fault diagnosis via a defined and controlled methodology

  • Manage transfer of knowledge from project to initial operational maintenance team. Also set up Knowledge Management system through a technical library or similar approach.

  • Integration with site systems (eg SAP master date, planning)

  • SME for packaging equipment

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Packaging Line Engineer will be responsible for:

  • To highlight and execute safety improvements across site and where appropriate communicate these with the other team members

  • To safely manage vendors and contractors working in the packaging a

  • To ensure housekeeping is maintained in an inspection-ready condition at all times

  • work at all times in a manner that is compliant to both legal and company EHS procedures

  • Ensure all activities and documentation is fully compliant with cGMP and maintained in an inspection-ready condition

  • To be able to lead Quality processes such as (but not limited to) CAPA, UE, Change control and internal auditing

  • Build a strong working relationship with the operations team and become fully integrated to allow a strong level of trust and customer service.

  • Build overall capability and skill level in the operations team roles (especially PSTs).

  • Increase the skill level in maintenance team and back this up with generation of training/technical material that is easy to access and use.

Skills, Experience & Education:

In return, you will bring:

  • Ideal: Minimum 5 years industrial experience of working on packaging-line equipment (Marchesini) with significant leading continuous improvement experience (6-sigma, lean or other operational excellence processes) in a GMP environment.

  • Minimum: Significant packaging line maintenance experience including leading continuous improvement activities.

Education / Certifications:

  • Ideal: HND level or equivalent or higher with full multi-skilled background including PLC control systems

  • Minimum: HND or equivalent in appropriate engineering discipline.
