We’re looking for a Packaging Developer to join our Innovation & Product Development Team. With our two amazing brands, Proper and Eat Real, we are driving the Better for You snacking revolution. Our innovation team are at the heart of this revolution, as the tastemakers, creators and gatekeepers of all thing’s product and packaging.

The Person:

You will have experience of delivering film and cardboard primary, secondary and tertiary packaging innovation from concept to launch. You are a materials and print fanatic, constantly honing your expertise and able to work collaboratively with suppliers for the best output. Whilst passionate about what packaging can do for both the product and brand, you’ll also be motivated by the challenge of making our creations fit for market, balancing commercial, sustainability, and technical requirements.

The Role:

As a key member of the Product team, reporting into the Head of NPD, you will be responsible for designing, testing and project managing the implementation of packaging solutions across our portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Design packaging and print solutions to project briefs and proactively feed into the NPD and EPD pipeline
  • Project manage and deliver all aspects of packaging development, factory trialling and managing the changeover of material choice, structural design and print
  • Understand our packaging; know the functionality, cost and carbon impact of the packaging materials used, ensuring they are fit for purpose and as sustainable as possible.
  • Ensure that supply chain & operational efficiency is at the heart of our materials usage and palletisation for all markets.
  • Be the critical link with our Snacktory in Nuneaton, driving packaging process expertise and responsible for all packaging related data
  • Support feasibility assessments for the project portfolio, proactively flag opportunities in sustainability, cost optimisation and operations within packaging.
  • Lead and support collaborative supplier relationships with our Procurement & Operations teams ensuring the best solutions are brought to our business and utilised effectively in packaging development.
  • Lead the extended producer responsibility and packaging recycling evidence process and ensure we are prepared for incoming packaging sustainability legislation

Requirements:

  • Industry experience, in a packaging development role focused on the use of film
  • Experience of delivering packaging-based solutions in the food Industry
  • BSc degree, preferably in either food science, technology, material science (or equivalent)
  • Proven project management skills
  • Knowledge of packaging and print related sustainability, weights and food safety legislation
  • Experience working within brand guidelines, understanding of private label
  • A can-do proactive self-starting attitude as this role will involve a great degree of independent working
  • Experience of Vertical Form Fill Seal and Multiheaded weighers preferred

We encourage a hybrid approach to working, 3 days from the office and 2 days working from anywhere. This is a Nuneaton based role but travel to our London HQ once per week (your travel expenses would be covered).
