The Role
The Packaging Designer is responsible for the development of packaging material across the wow! stuff portfolio working in categories such as toys, games, novelty gifting and role play.
The Packaging Designer will report directly to the Head of Product Design and will be responsible for owning the packaging design and development from concept through to production. Working closely with the Product designers (Design managers), key stakeholder, Far East team, and Licensors to ensure best in class packaging.
Primary Responsibilities
- Handle the development of all packaging material across the wow! portfolio.
- Design and develop best in class packaging solutions from initial briefing/concept stage through to fully approved final product.
- Create required 2D and 3D outputs for all packs.
- Work closely with the product designers throughout the PD process to ensure synergy between the packaging design and physical product.
- Manage the licensor submissions and approval for all licensed packaging.
- Manage packaging developed timelines to ensure final approved packaging files are released on time.
- Create high fidelity visual mock ups of packaging when needed.
- Work closely with FE engineering teams to work through any manufacturing challenges.
Experience and Skills
- A degree in packaging design or graphic design with related experience in packaging.
- 3 – 5 years of packaging design experience ideally within the toys and games sector.
- A high level of competency in the latest Adobe Creative Suite is essential, in particular using Illustrator,
Photoshop. * Highly creative with the ability to communicate ideas and concept quickly.
- Able to make high fidelity mock ups of packaging concepts and designs.
- Experience in the design of structural packaging for consumer products and creating effective cutter guides for cardboard packaging.
- Hands on experience with licensors and associated submissions and approvals processes.
- Keen eye for detail
- Experience of sustainable/plastic free packaging a bonus.
- Experience of Packaging Engineering and manufacture a bonus.
- Ability to work and communicate with third parties - internally and externally.
- Ability to manage time effectively, recognising priorities and acting accordingly.Personal Characteristics
