Packaging Assistant
Salary: £26,000+ (DOE)
Hours: Full Time (37.5 h)
Contract: Permanent

Due to our colleague leaving the company to pursue different experiences, we are looking for a packaging assistant to join our team.
We are looking for someone who could potentially start immediately to facilitate a better induction, but it is not essential as we are interested in finding the best candidate for this role.
We are open to interviewing someone who is either entry level with interest in learning and developing within packaging, or someone who has had experience in packaging or in a production department within the brewing industry.
This role will be responsible for implementation of the packaging schedule and requested packaging splits:
- Canning (with our 12-head Cask canning inline filler with automatic depalletisation)
- Kegging (steel and plastic kegs – 20, 30 and 50L)
- Cask cleaning and racking (9 Gallon casks)
- Assisting with Barrel Project bottling and labelling
Additional responsibilities include:
- Supporting packaging lead in communicating with production, sales & warehouse
teams on a daily basis
- Collating packaging material requests for the warehouse team
- Ensuring SOPs are followed and up to date for all processes across canning, kegging & cask racking
- Supporting in problem solving planning, quality or mechanical issues, with support
from the Brewery Manager and Brewery Team Manager when necessary
- Ensuring all equipment relating to the Packaging Team is kept in good working order and that maintenance schedules and records are upheld.
- Helping to continuously improve processes
- Handling of unfinished stock levels & organising finalising stock ready for sale
- Ensuring all packaging documentation & product sign off is accurately completed on time, both on paper and digitally
Quality:
- Ensure adequate quality control measures are documented, in place and adhered to by anyone working on packaging (cans/kegs/casks)
- Ensure adequate quality checks are taking place and actions taken if stock is not of a high quality
- Follow SOP procedures and quality standards at all times to ensure product is ready
for customers and sales
- Working with the packaging lead to ensure Packaging Quality Parameters are met:
- CIP & ATP swabs
- TPO reduction
- DO exposure & ingress reduction in can and keg
- Seam integrity in cans
This is a full time role (37.5 hours per week), working Monday to Friday (on a shift basis) from our Brewery in Manchester.
