Helping Everyone Eat Better – It’s what our adverts say, and we’re taking that seriously at Sainsbury’s. Our Technical Teams are key to delivering our Food First strategy, whether that’s improving the products that we already have, helping to develop new ones or providing our customers with the information they need to make the best product choices. We ensure that Sainsbury’s provides our customers with distinctive, legal, safe and healthy products, sourced in line with our values and customer expectations.

We’re a diverse team that’s passionate about products, about doing the right thing, and making things better for our customers and for our amazing environment. We work with a wide range of stakeholders across the business and externally to ensure that or products are from ethical sources and are of the highest quality for our customers to fall in love with. The activities we complete feed directly into some of Sainsbury’s most important commitments, such as Net Zero and Win in Food.

As a leadership PA you’ll provide administrative and project support to the Technical Leadership Team. With a strong understanding of the technical and food commercial objectives, and Store Support Centre Operations, you will accurately prioritise and manage the flow of information. As a Leadership PA, you’ll:

  • Understand the objectives of the areas overseen by the Directors of Technical and be able to engage and influence cross functionally and externally to ensure priorities are delivered.
  • Manage their diary and appointments daily whilst collating and prioritising all information required for meetings and ensuring enough time is given to enable the Directors of Technical to familiarise themselves with the content.
  • Maintain a record of their actions and track their progress, ensuring they are completed on schedule and providing support in seeking resolutions.
  • Provide various administrative duties such as minute taking, organising meeting agendas and venues, HRS updates and holiday bookings as and when required by the Directors of Technical.
  • Read and prioritise all communications coming into to the Directors of Technical, ensuring timely and accurate responses are issued. Where possible, respond or redistribute queries and issues to the appropriate colleague.
  • Ensure the Directors of Technical complete expense and SSP sign offs in a timely manner.
  • Support in organising cascades and other team events, including: venue booking, organising refreshments, ensuring the event runs seamlessly, arranging the correct equipment, organising rehearsals, collating and editing presentations.
  • Champion new ways of working within Food Commercial and work with Directors of Technical and Category Technical Managers to ensure governance meetings are planned in advance to the required frequency and corporate memory of meetings minutes and actions are centrally logged.

Our Food Technical team would love to see:

  • Strong commercial acumen gained through Retail experience
  • An appreciation of retail operations
  • A strong understanding of Store Support Centre operations and how to ‘get things done’ in this environment
  • Appropriate level of PC skills including Microsoft Office packages. Working knowledge of Teams, One Note, SharePoint and One Drive is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to communicate and influence across all levels
