We are looking to find a lovely and experienced Personal Assistant to help us with our two wonderful children.
Our daughter is 10 and has a diagnosis of FASD and ADHD. Our son is 7 and has a diagnosis of Autism and ADHD. Both children are high functioning but need the care and nurture of a child younger than their chronological age.
Both our children came home to us via adoption and have Trauma and Attachment struggles. An understating of and/or experience of Adoption/Fostering/Trauma/Attachment would be highly advantageous.
Our children need to be supported by someone who understands their needs and struggles as well as talents and gifts and has a passion for working with children who have Trauma and Attachment (and and understanding of SEN).
You will need to have solid experience of both the joy and challenges this brings and your ability to cope with the more challenging times for example dealing with challenging anxiety driven behaviours which include demand avoidance controlling behaviours and, on occasion, include hitting, biting etc from our son.
You must be honest, trustworthy, and reliable, must respect our family’s privacy and always maintain dignity.
You must be kind, warm, patient, enthusiastic and flexible with a caring disposition and must be able to work on your own initiative and as part of the family.
You will need have the ability to drive the children safely and have access to your own vehicle. This is an absolute must.
Our PA must like animals both children love animals and we have a Labrador and visit lots of farms!
You will need a brilliant sense of humour, buckets of empathy and love and a real sense of fun.
You will need to be physically fit – our children are active and on the go most of the day; they enjoy playing outside, running, and climbing (we have a playground in the garden) and like to get out and about lots too visiting soft play centres, farms, trampolining, Ninja Warrior etc.
Our son is physically demanding and always on the go – he is a fast runner, excellent at climbing, strong and tall for his age. He always needs supervision and can be an escapologist! He also likes lots of 'piggy backs' and cuddles!
They love nature and splashing in muddy puddles and picnics and thrive on the great outdoors in all weathers.
This is not a suitable role for someone who prefers a more sedentary or indoor role! The kids are active, and you will need to be happy running around, building dens, sitting in tents etc to keep pace with the children.
Experience of dealing with and helping our children cope with anxiety-driven, challenging behaviours would be high advantageous.
Nurture must be at the very heart of your care.
