The post holder will deliver an efficient and effective service for Overseas Visitors in accordance with statutory requirements, accounting guidance and agreed local procedures

The role will involve interviewing, assessing and identifying whether an overseas’ patient claim for free NHS treatment is valid based on the latest guidance, supporting finance colleagues to ensure that where appropriate, funds are recovered in a timely manner either from the patient, insurance company or via a reciprocal agreement.

The post holder may be required to deal with extremely sensitive issues, in particular explaining where funding is not available to non-emergency procedures. There will often be language barriers. May also face aggressive and disruptive patients and their families when dealing with a potential overseas visitor patient.

The post holder will be required to visit clinical areas on a regular basis such as A&E, wards and outpatient clinics in order to meet patients and advice and support clinicians in relation to overseas patients regulations. They will also be expected to travel to other hospital sites, specifically Central Middlesex and Ealing Hospitals and also community sites as required. There will also be an element of administrative tasks as part of this role.

Are you able to meet deadlines and priorities workload while working as part of busy team? We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Overseas Visitors Officer across site. Full training will be provided.

You should be literate and have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of people, both face to face and on the telephone, which is essential. The pot is for 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm across site. This is a key “front of house” position requiring a pleasant efficient manner with tact and diplomacy at all times.

The post holder has to interview, assess and identify overseas visitors on behalf of the Trust in order to substantive and validity of a patients claim for entitlement free NHS treatment by following the Department of Health and Social care guidance, whether a patient is eligible or not. Obtain information from compensation Recovery Unit on Road Traffic Accidents (RTA’s) electronically to complete claim forms.
