- Responsible for international purchasing, order management and logistics to mitigate risk and enable profitability. Aligns purchases with the business strategies and financial goals. Build strong supplier relationships with CPC’s Asian suppliers.
- Improve current purchasing terms with regards to buy price, MOQ’s, payment terms, rebates and returns agreements
- Manage an inventory portfolio with associated line fill, SLOB and stock turn targets
What will you be doing?
- Purchasing and providing order fulfilment activities in support of business demand to positively impact the customer experience, inventory turns (cash flow) and have predictable and accurate supplier on-time delivery.
- Manage an inventory portfolio within set targets including ex stock availability and managing slow moving and obsolete stock
- Regular communications with suppliers and Farnell’s Asian Sourcing Office
- Develop and manage relationships with suppliers to hold them accountable for meeting shipping and delivery commitments to include system and process improvements at both company and the supplier.
- Negotiation of cost downs and improved supplier terms to include MOQ’s, payment terms and lead times
- Work with the Warehouse and Logistics Teams, including transportation carriers, to ensure product is received and delivered on time; lead/drive/support process improvements. Ensure all paperwork documentation and freight/duty charges are made available in a timely manner an to weekly deadlines
- Liaise with Finance to forecast currency requirements and agree stock holding
What about you?
- Thorough knowledge of principles, theories and concepts in area of discipline. Competent in all job functions and has general understanding of industry practices, techniques and standards.
- Some previous International Purchasing experience, specifically purchasing from China
- Develops solutions for a variety of situations and works on projects requiring evaluation and analysis. May refer to policies, practices and precedents for guidance; determines best course of action to achieve results.
- Work is performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion. May receive some limited guidance for new assignments. Work may be reviewed for overall adequacy.
- Collaborates with management and team members within the department/function and other areas of the organization. May represent the Department internally or externally.
- Able to control and manage freight forwarders
- An understanding of cash flow impacts
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Good IT skills with excellent analytical skills, Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- A related degree and/or a CIPS qualification would be an advantage
