As an outpatients booking clerk your main responsibilities will include booking appointments, dealing with patient enquiries, adding/amending clinics, engaging with the specialties to resolve any issues, and the input of data on to Trust computer systems. An integral part of the role is contacting patients by telephone to book appointments.

Scan referrals on to and obtain information from Scanman – the Trust’s IT system for handling referrals.
Refer each patient to the relevant Consultant/Clinician on the computerised Patient Administration System (PAS).
Full training and support will be provided, with any changes or modifications to procedures, processes or systems to being explained where necessary and additional training given if required, enabling the effective and accurate collection of information
Contact patients by phone agreeing a mutually agreeable appointment date taking into account National, Local and Trust targets, recording all offered appointments on to the PAS system.
Build and maintain a detailed knowledge of Outpatient specialties, consultants, clinic codes, booking rules and services.
