Job Description
  • To effectively plan & schedule maintenance activities for major outages by utilizing resources efficiently, optimizing durations and achieving cost effectiveness.
  • To collaborate with site outage teams, construction, projects, operations, mechanical integrity and plant maintenance teams to develop work packs for the approved outage scope.
  • To continually develop and sustain outage planning & scheduling processes at GMC and to drive consistency across the site.
  • To assist the outage management team during the preparation phase to deliver major planned outage activities at GMC and to drive HSE and quality standards and effective manpower utilization.
  • To assist the Outage Manager in developing an HSE culture driving to goal zero within the outage team including contracting partners.
  • To interrogate systems to gather the initial outage scope that includes legal and regulatory inspections, PM plans. Facilitate & collaborate with the projects, operations and the maintenance teams to gather the remaining outage scope.
  • To facilitate the scope challenge process to ensure work is challenged and approved that requires a complete outage.
  • To ensure that all work is planned adhering to all HSE standards and in compliance with all relevant statutory and company requirements.
  • To ensure the scope is planned using detailed work packs by taking site visits, co-ordinating with the scope originators for the technical data & including all the relevant planning requirements such as BOM, task lists, execution method statements etc.
  • Prepare the detailed master schedule in collaboration with operations, maintenance, projects, construction and external companies to ensure full alignment. Ensure that project requirements are fully integrated into the outage process.
  • Assist Outage Manager to build an initial outage estimate.
  • Prepare +/- 10% cost estimates in the detailed work preparation phase.
  • Prepare the detailed list of materials and work with the stores operations to ensure all the materials are ordered & are ready for the execution.
  • Ensure the master schedule is challenged and agreed by all, the sequential links are correct specially for maintenance & construction combined work and the critical path’s visible.
  • Issue the final agreed master schedule using the appropriate view format and issue daily look ahead plans during the execution phase.
  • Assist outage manager to drive the outage plan by progress tracking using S curves.
  • Attend daily execution tiered meetings and actively participate in the group discussion to drive the progress.
  • Provide assistance to the Technicians and the task controllers in any planning issues that arise.
  • Assist Task Controller in planning and executing emergent repair work during execution.
  • Coordinate with the external companies for the offsite repairs during the execution phase.
  • Encourage all to follow the plan and drives the critical path.
  • Ensure all unused materials are returned to stores and the equipment’s are sent for refurbishment.
  • Assist Outage Manager to smoothly close out the termination phase by providing the appropriate planned versus actual dates, actual spend of consumables, materials and the equipment’s etc.

Qualifications
  • Experience in planning engineering maintenance activities / planned outages.
  • Experience in using planning / scheduling tool.
  • Experience in preparing work packs.
  • Ability to interpret plans / situations / issues to clearly define & direct actions to achieve a successful outcome.
  • Role model in ensuring HSE compliances and ability to change a positive HSE culture.
  • Experience with planning and associated IT tools (Primavera P6 and SAP PM).
  • A strong broad technical engineering knowledge.
  • Previous experience in planning & executing major outages in a comparable industry (chemistry, petrochemicals and nuclear etc).
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Outage planning experience.
  • Costing and budget experience.
