Out of Hours Transport Coordinator
Job Summary
Your remit will be to assist the Transport and Logistics Manager/Assistant Transport and Logistics Manager to provide the efficient and effective operational running of the Transport Service. This will mean taking ownership of all Courier activity in order to ensure optimum utilisation at minimum cost and building strong links with the Issue Department to ensure timely delivery of products to hospitals.
You will have the ability to demonstrate recent experience of a supervisory role. What’s certain is that you’re a competent user of IT, a real team player and dedicated to meeting deadlines on your own initiative, even when under pressure.
Main duties of the job
- Work as a key member of the team at an NHSBT location undertaking local centre, regional and national tasks.
- Undertake operational work planning and application of organisational service provision of NHSBT.
- Work as part of the transport department operational team assisting in the efficient and effective operational running of the Transport and Logistics services.
- Undertake responsibility for all Courier activity to ensure cost efficiencies
- Build strong links with Hospital Services Departments to ensure timely delivery of products to hospitals
- Work with digital and IT packages, including a Transport Management System
- You may be required to participate in a rotered variable working shift pattern that can include 24/7 working – Please see “About the Benefits”
About You
Experience and Knowledge
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the national road networks is essential
- Good working knowledge of Information Technology, covering a range of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) or equivalent packages is essential
- Experience of co-ordinating movement of items and products is essential
Qualifications and Training
- Minimum of GCSE grade C or above including Maths and English or equivalent qualification OR experience
- Qualification in Transport and Logistics or equivalent qualification OR experience
- Willingness to undertake continuing development and training as required
