Introduction
Our client is a multinational information technology services and consulting company! They are looking for an Oracle focussed Database Administrator to monitor database activity to ensure databases are available, secure, recoverable, error free, and performant
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years’ experience in Oracle database design or maintenance roles along with experience working with software installation.
Our client is looking for SC cleared candidates OR candidates willing to undergo an SC clearance.
Due to the nature of the role, you must hold a full British passport and have lived in the UK for the last 5 years continuously to apply.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor database activity to ensure databases are available, secure, recoverable, error free, and performant
- ensure that databases are available during operating hours
- Perform regular database backups to ensure data can be recovered or recreated in the case of corruption
- Identify and resolve issues that impact functionality, data integrity or data access
- Identify, escalate, and resolve and blocks that negatively impact database performance
- Develop tools to aid with event and capacity monitoring
- Plan and implement new database installations to best practice and client requirements
- Plan and implement major release databases upgrades and periodic patching schedules
- Utilise standard corporate tools to manage incidents, problems, and changes
Skills & experience
- 3+ years’ experience in Oracle database design or maintenance roles
- Experience working with software installation
- Knowledge of software upgrading and patching procedures
- Experience with various operating systems such as Windows, Linux and UNIX
- Experience working with performance modelling
- Benchmarking skills with regards to relational databases
