Location: Birmingham Position: Full time Start Date: September 2023 Salary: £25,000-£40,000 per annum We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate MFL Teacher to join our school starting in September 2023. As an MFL Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire students and foster their love for foreign languages and cultures. Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality MFL lessons to secondary school students, following the school's curriculum and educational guidelines. Teach one or more foreign languages, such as French, Spanish, German, or any other languages offered by the school. Develop engaging and interactive lessons that promote language acquisition, cultural understanding, and communication skills. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore and practice their language skills. Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and technology to cater to different learning styles and abilities within the classroom. Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to facilitate their language development. Create opportunities for students to use the language in authentic contexts through discussions, presentations, and interactive activities. Encourage cultural awareness and appreciation by introducing students to the customs, traditions, and literature of the target language countries. Implement effective strategies to support students' language learning, including differentiation and scaffolding techniques. Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that promotes respect, collaboration, and a passion for language learning. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, achievements, and assessments, following school policies and procedures. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and review the MFL curriculum, schemes of work, and teaching resources. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in language teaching methodologies and resources. Participate in parent-teacher meetings, school events, and professional development activities as required. Build positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues, actively communicating progress and addressing any concerns. Requirements: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with specialisation in MFL or a related field. Experience teaching MFL at the secondary school level, demonstrating a strong understanding of the MFL curriculum and pedagogical approaches. Fluent or near-fluent proficiency in one or more foreign languages, with a high level of spoken and written accuracy. Knowledge of current language teaching methodologies and resources, incorporating technology into language lessons. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate students effectively. Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports students' language acquisition and cultural understanding. Strong organisational skills to plan and deliver lessons effectively, manage resources, and assess student progress. Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with the latest trends in language teaching. Cultural sensitivity and the ability to foster an appreciation for diversity and global perspectives.
