Operating within the National Radio Design and Optimisation team formulating and driving the national optimisation, feature deployment and new product introduction plan, to deliver the best possible network experience for our customers; leading national activities within the area team in preparation for public benchmarking campaigns and providing area guidance and support. You will be the main point of contact for area teams driving actions to address performance degradations as well as effectively quantifying the uplifts in experience delivered through feature and parameter rollout.

What you’ll do

  • Monitor and manage the various steps of the post deployment activity related to performance and mitigate impact on the customer
  • Work closely with various engineering teams to scope out critical demand for tools & processes that need improving/developing
  • Document and communicate relevant changes to all internal customers with the UK Radio team using different methods e.g. internal comms platforms like WikiRAN & Teams), training sessions, governance meetings
  • Define and document associated Optimisation and engineering processes, procedures and standards, including the Performance acceptance processes. Drive cross-area, cross-vendor harmonisation
  • Ensure adherence by teams to new processes and report on benefits to the Radio team in a virtuous cycle
  • Strong knowledge of radio access technologies (2G,3G,4G, 5G), its deployment, acceptance, performance assessment and optimisation in a multi-vendor environment
  • Experience with defining and documenting processes, workflows and optimisation standards.
  • Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Experience of working cross-functionally and driving collaboration between teams and functions to deliver end goals.
  • Highly analytical with excellent communication skills – able to communicate confidently and effectively; able to explain complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand.

Who are you?

Impact on the business
Responsible for delivering 2G/3G/4G/5G radio performance (cell, site and BSC/RNC level) to meet regional/national coverage quality, performance & congestion targets.
Responsible for monitoring Radio KPI’s that reflect customer experience, allowing the business to differentiate in the market and drive up Net Promoter Score which leads to reduced churn
Responsible for ensuring that the regional radio network is designed optimised and performing at the best possible levels

Customers, supplier and third parties
Working with Vendors, Suppliers, other UK Operators when sharing agreements apply, other Opco’s and deployment teams, Service Operations and other networks domains in cross functional teams to improve performance
Working with central Vodafone teams (primarily Radio Optimisation and Radio Design units) to be aware of the latest guidelines and feedback about new findings and proposals to update them.
Ensuring that customer feedback is taken into consideration when driving improvements in network performance by liaising with Service Operations, consumer and enterprise business units

Leadership and teamwork
Liaising with all central Radio project teams to manage the delivery of the access network capabilities into the region ensuring great performance
Driving deployment and operations to ensure data integrity, consistency and accuracy to improve network performance as well as delivering improving coverage by delivery of local regional optimisation plans and designs
Ensure local radio optimisation processes are as efficient as possible and utilise best practice from across Vodafone UK, Quality and Performance Teams and the wider industry.

Innovation and change
Develop and introduce innovative solutions to complex Radio issues
Proactively re-design of existing hardware configurations to provide world class network performance to Vodafone customers
Develop and introduce new efficient ways of working across the regional teams and wider Vodafone UK Planning and Performance Team.

Knowledge and experience
Must have an excellent understanding of 2G,3G, 4G radio network technology and the basics of 5G.
Drive Trial Analysis
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Must have experience on radio coverage planning (including planning tools like Atoll)
Experience of local optimisation techniques (parametric and physical optimisation) and associated processes
Experience of working as part of a team or virtual teams to meet challenging timescales
Communication

Communicating performance messages across Technology, Business units and globally
