Company description
Specsavers is a family-run business for over 35 years. At our Brighouse store the business partners are Gareth Hart and Shuaib Nazir - we aim to provide the best value glasses, contact lenses and hearing aids to our customers, along with unbeatable customer service. We’re looking for someone to join our growing team, with previous experience of working in retail optics.
Job description
Our optical assistant team are the engine of our Specsavers Brighouse store team and crucial to our customer service journey. Gareth and Shuaib, the Brighouse directors, believe that individuals with a real passion for both healthcare and customer service really thrive in this role, as it’s the perfect position for those who love to make a real difference to other people’s lives.
Our staff work a 4 day, 40 hour week (each day is a 10 hour shift).
A job at Specsavers is so much more than just your average retail job. At many high-street retailers, ambitious shop-floor staff might expect to work their way up to store management. At Specsavers, you can also aim to own your own Specsavers store one day. Many Specsavers store partners began their Specsavers journey as optical assistants and now lead enthusiastic teams in their own stores across the country. A member of staff who started his Specsavers career with a part-time Saturday job at Brighouse, whilst studying for his A-levels, is now a director at our Harrogate store!
For this role, we accept applications from individuals both with or without optical experience. As long as you have a passion for delivering high levels of customer service and building relationships within a team, we want to hear from you. In return, we’ll offer a supportive and enjoyable working environment, where ongoing training and development opportunities are just part and parcel of everyday working life.
No two days are ever the same at Specsavers. You’ll serve a number of customers with differing needs throughout the day. You’ll need to be able to get stuck in and work with others in a busy team environment, as well as have the know-how to quickly provide solutions and helpful guidance on our products and services. But don’t worry – to support you in meeting a wide range of customer needs, you’ll have continuous support from Gareth, Shuaib and your colleagues on the shop floor.
There’s a reason Specsavers has won multiple awards for our commitment to training – as a business, we’re dedicated to nurturing talented people and letting them thrive. You and your colleagues will always be encouraged to boost your knowledge and learn new skills throughout your time at Specsavers. We offer a number of training courses specialising in a variety of areas, from optics and customer service to leadership and more.
With extensive training and personal development support, you’ll have all the skills and information you need to excel in your role. In addition to our training and development programmes for optical assistants, we also offer sponsored and externally-accredited Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications in dispensing or management.
We believe that knowing there’s the opportunity to progress is vital. One of the many great things about working for a large organisation such as Specsavers is that there are just so many directions your career can take you. So, what has the future for in store for you?
