We're in search of an Optical Assistant to join our Low Vision Service at RNIB. This is a permanent, part-time role for 4 days/28 hours a week, based in our new office at Grimaldi Park (a short walk from King's Cross or Angel stations).
The Low Vision Service at RNIB is an integrated low vision optometric and rehabilitation ICS commissioned service. Set in a purpose built clinic within the head quarters of the largest sightloss charity in the UK, we are able to provide our services to the highest level ensuring a truly holistic approach to low vision. Established in 2003 the service has led the way in community based low vision provision. It is also one of only a handful of services that provide low vision domiciliary care. We have a team of practitioners who are experts in low vision and learning disabilities as well as public health. We provide training at undergraduate and post graduate level and have presented research at many major conferences. What You'll Be Doing
As one of our Optical Assistants, who will be an integral part of our team. The role is varied and always patient centred; you will be providing administrative expertise as well as practical support, including some delegated clinical tests. You will also be supporting clinicians in clinic as well as on home visits.
You will ensure the smooth running of the diary and liaise between key stakeholders of this service, such as between RNIB and our rehabilitation officer colleagues.
Ultimately, you will be playing in integral part in ensuring the best possible patient experience.
Who We’re Looking For
You will have an understanding of the importance of patient centred care and a passion for improving the quality of life for people living with sightloss. You will have exceptional communication skills, experience working as an optical assistant in a busy clinic and with using optical management software. You will also have experience as an administrator and an ability to use Microsoft word, Powerpoint and Excel. You will understand the importance of teamworking to ensure the smooth running of a commissioned service.
