Purpose of the role
Responsibilities
- Routine sampling/analysis.
- Assisting with the Start-up and shutdown of plant following the appropriate training (planned or emergency shutdown).
- Routine monitoring (readings) of plant and reporting of faults.
- Preparing equipment for maintenance.
- Signing on maintenance teams (permit to work) – later development.
- Routine checks of safety equipment.
- Compile Shift Log.
- Handover to incoming and outgoing shifts appropriately and rigorously.
- Complete plant weekly routines.
- Communicate plant issues to departmental management, raising work request in the maintenance system as required.
- Maximise efficiency of plant.
- Carry out on the job risk assessments on a continuous basis.
- Providing assistance to local management and maintenance staff in non-routine circumstances (e.g. breakdowns).
- Supporting delivery of departmental / site targets and KPIs.
- Review of existing operating instructions and procedures
- On suitable demonstration of competency, progress to issuing safe work permits.
Essential Requirements
- Good knowledge of site policies and procedures is highly desirable.
- Experience in a 24/7 operations environment.
- Practical knowledge of computerised operating systems and software packages including Delta V (DCS), Oracle and Microsoft Office Suite would be a distinct advantage.
- Strong work ethic.
- A team player who can be counted on to provide support to work colleagues.
- Ideally the candidate will have previous chemical process plant experience and preferably have attained education standard, C&G Process Operations/Process Technology (0610) Level III or equivalent.
- When initial training is successfully completed the candidate will progress up through the operational area over time subject to progression requirements.
