Petroineos Refining and Trading is one of the largest independent refiners trading in Europe. As a joint venture between PetroChina and INEOS, established in 2011, we trade a comprehensive range of energy products and process more than 420,000 barrels of crude oil per day. We are currently recruiting for an Operations Technician to join our Offsites Team in Grangemouth, on a permanent basis.
Purpose of the role:
The role of the Operations Technician is to maintain plant integrity by monitoring and operating unit equipment to keep process parameters within specified Operating Envelopes.
In addition, provide support to the Operations Supervisor to ensure they meet the daily and long term availability and optimisation targets as well as ensuring equipment is safely and efficiently released for maintenance and inspection.
Key Accountabilities:
Operations
- Preparation of detailed shift logbooks in Opralog and a formal face to face handover between shifts
- Preparation of a detailed 10 day hand over within Opralog
- Compliance with refresher and competence training
- Review and check of all updated operating instructions
- Regular review and action of all live Operational Risk Assessments (ORA's)
- Carry out pump change overs as per Pump Maintenance schedule. During changeovers, review status of all pumps and ensure any out of sync pumps are also swapped
- Complete operation PMs (motor and pump lubrication, pipetrack checks etc.) and ensure work orders are completed in Maximo prior to the due date
- Complete unit safety checks (Grating checks, RV, LO/LC, Trip Input registers)
- Perform structured rounds including completion of Pride route, ensuring the safe operating condition of the plant
- Liaise with CCB Technician to ensure all optimization and energy opportunities are understood and delivered
- Deliver the work processes (basic care, sampling, Take 5's, Thermal relief during plant outages etc.) to ensure that the processes are delivered to the required standard
- Ensure all safety processes are complied with
- Report all defects through Maximo ensuring appropriate detail and accuracy, including the initial preparation of a maintenance work pack and ensure all work is raised against an appropriate location in Maximo with the correct labour codes
- Participate in practical and desktop Emergency exercises
- Respond to process upsets to return the asset to stable operation, minimizing production losses and SHE impact. Deliver immediate trouble shooting and return to stable operation
- Delivery of all maintenance preparation activities as defined in the maintenance workflow process in a timely fashion to allow efficient maintenance execution
- Participate fully in the development of TAR workpacks through a process of continuous scoping and work preparation
Control of Work
- Comply with site control of work standards with a clear focus on quality job site visits before, during and after work execution
- Carry out relevant gas testing to ensure safe working conditions prior to RAPnet permit issue
- Control daily work activities through the use of the RAPnet permit system ensuring awareness of SimOps. Issue permits to work at all levels of complexity based on the operator having the necessary training and competence
- Participate in Issuer and isolating authority training and field assessments
- Contribute to the maintenance workflow, developing workscope in conjunction with the planning team
- Scope upcoming jobs and develop isolation lists as part of the workflow process
- Carry out equipment preparation including development of OI's, isolation and management of TBRAs as required in order to ensure equipment is available for maintenance as per the agreed maintenance schedule.
- Assist with long-term isolation reviews, ensuring the database is up to date and isolations remain accurate in the field
Education/Experience:
- HNC/HND in relevant engineering subject
- Completion of Apprenticeship
- Excellent communication skills
- IT literate and proficient in computer systems
- Experience of Maximo CMMS (desirable)
