So what does a Process Technician do?
As an Assistant Plant Operator (Process Technician Apprentice), you will learn to have responsibility for monitoring and operating a safe, environmentally compliant and efficient, auxiliary system, boilers and steam turbine generator operation. Operating boilers and auxiliary plant equipment locally throughout the plant.
- To assist with the hands-on operation of the plant during steady state, start up, shutdown and emergency situations as directed by the Plant Operator and Shift Team Leader.
- Maintains detailed and accurate records of daily operational activities.
- Assists shift team leader in root cause analysis investigations following plant disturbance or environmental release.
- Develop standard operating procedures and review following plant disturbance.
- Creates work requests and reports defects through the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Works collaboratively with all members of enfinium team and contractors to ensure the highest levels of H&S are maintained at all times.
- Monitor stocks and take receipt of consumables / collection of residues.
As you advance through your apprenticeship and demonstrate competence your role and duties will expand in line with your modules.
What does the apprenticeship look like?
Year 1 – During year 1 you will be based at CATCH Stallingborough, this is where your journey begins in learning all that there is to know about being a Engineering Technician
Year 2 & 3 – During this time you will be based on site at Ferrybridge, Knottingley, throughout these two year you will have the opportunity to further understand and develop the skills by being on site and learning from your peers.
Your apprenticeship will conclude with an end point assessment where you will be evaluated by a practical observation, knowledge assessment and a technical interview. If you pass this, you will be awarded Technical certificate (0610 Level 2 and Level 3) and a level 3 NVQ in Process Industries.
Beyond year 3 and once you have completed your apprenticeship, you will be able to explore career opportunities across the enfinium group

Before applying to become an Apprentice Electrical, Control and Instrument Technician, there are few things you need to consider:
- During Year 1 at CATCH you will be based on site at the college in Stallingborough; your accommodation, uniform and travel will be fully funded by enfinium.
- This is a E,C&I Technician Apprenticeship role in at an Energy from Waste facility where you will be working in a plant operational facility environments. This means that you will be exposed to elements such as working from height, areas of elevated noise and temperatures, in addition to some confined spaces working, operating rotating machinery, open grated flooring up to a level of 45 meters.
- It is important to remember that this is a professional qualification that would set you career in good stead and whilst enrolled you will be a representative of enfinium
