Job description
If you offer leadership skills and people management expertise, this position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the production process for a world leading organisation.
About UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO)
We are a world-leading centre for hydrography, specialising in marine geospatial data to support safe, secure and thriving oceans. We fulfil the UK government’s Safety of Life at Sea obligations and are relied upon by defence users, government and global shipping.
The role
Team Manager roles are key leadership positions across our production flowline teams at the UKHO. They are generic people management roles - providing leadership for up to 30 to 40 staff. Team Managers directly line manage their Team Leaders and specialist Technical Leads in most areas.
You will be instrumental in leading your team in the provision of data, products and services to our customers, ensuring the team deliver quality output to time, cost and specification.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring work is progressed to timeliness targets and that relevant quality standards are met
- Acting as line manager for Team Leaders and Technical Leads and undertaking appropriate staff development, coaching and mentoring
- Having an active role in the development and implementation of new processes and working practices
- Leading the team through business/cultural change
- Leading on or supporting projects and programmes
- Developing and managing stakeholder relationships to achieve effective outcomes for the team
You will need a track record of leading teams effectively through change, with the ability to understand how your team’s activities will impact on the wider organisation.
If you have experience in a similar role we would be delighted to hear from you.
In return
UKHO is a great place in which to explore your career potential. While our projects are career-defining, the work/life balance that we can offer you is equally exceptional. From flexitime, flexible working, an award-winning office environment and a generous annual leave allowance of 34.5 days including public holidays, the opportunities open to you here are hard to beat.
The role will be contractually based at our office in Taunton. We have embraced hybrid working, recognising it is about what you bring to the role and deliver, not where you work from.
