Working Pattern: Days (37.5 hours per week, typical hours are 07:30 – 15:40 or 08:10 – 16:20)

What will the Successful Candidate be Doing:

Are you someone who is organised, able to multi-task, practical by nature and able to engage and influence others to help see a job through to completion?

Operations Support deliver safe and effective support activities, in order to maximise safety and quality of the operational processes within the plant. They support a wide range of areas.

The successful candidate will promote overall nuclear safety (along with all other areas of safety – conventional, industrial, radiological, environmental) checking that all work activities meet compliance with site standards, policies, processes and procedures. They will also deliver plant administration activities through the generation and control of plant instructions. This will include operator instructions, alarm response instructions, emergency operating instructions, and maintenance instructions etc. to ensure that a high standard of operational work is delivered.

The Operations profession offers a wide range of opportunities, across five areas: Four “Values Streams”; Remediation, Retrievals, Special Nuclear Materials and Spent Fuel Management and the broader enabling organisation of Site Management and Infrastructure. The Ideal Candidate:

Essential Skills:

  • Minimum of three GCSEs at grade C or above in Mathematics, English and Science (or equivalent).
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a radiological environment.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programmes, with a good level of IT competency.

Desirable Skills:

  • Plant experience in Operations, Safety or Maintenance.
  • Fire Safety Management experience.
  • Experience of Safe Systems Of Work
  • Experience of Legionella and Asbestos regulations.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment process and principals
