About the role
Working from our depots and offices across our district as well as from home, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver our highly valued £multi-million StreetScene service in a high profile tourist resort and area of outstanding natural beauty where our environment and beaches are our shop front. In a role which covers grounds maintenance, street & public buildings cleansing, creative commercial use of our outdoor spaces, and beach safety and infrastructure, you will be responsible for running a safe and efficient service to provide the high quality, clean, and green public realm our residents and visitors expect and beautiful public spaces for people to enjoy.
You will be joining us at an exciting time with an opportunity to shape how we take our service forward supporting our climate change action plan, and developing our green tourism offer and Blue Flag Award winning beach infrastructure, all whilst improving the way we work to help us meet the growing demands placed on our service. About you
Organised, efficient and inspiring, you will deliver a StreetScene Operations service to exceed expectations. First and foremost, you will need extensive vocational experience in a field such as cleansing, grounds maintenance or horticulture, with a strong background in line managing and leading staff in a comparable operational environment, including practical experience of reviewing systems of work, ensuring a safety first mind-set and reviewing technology and equipment to continue improving our standards and efficiency. Ideally with a NVQ level 5 management qualification affording you sound knowledge of the operational management and motivation of large teams.
Able to build rapport quickly, you will have the gravitas and knowledge to lead and influence others in the work and the passion, drive and organisational skills to juggle a demanding role. You will also be competent in the use of Microsoft Office and information and communication technology to make best use of time and resources. A strong ability to manage budgets, deadlines, and especially people. This, combined with real attention to detail and a communicative nature, will see the team deliver a friendly, user-focused service. Some weekend working and out of hours emergency response handling are also a feature of this role.
