Salary: £55k - £65k basic per annum plus bonus and company car allowance and Veolia benefits
Hours: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday
Location: Tyseley, Birmingham

What will you be doing?
- Manage the operational aspects of the facility and processes on site ensuring that the plant operates within the requirements of the Environmental permit and other environmental legislation
- Work closely with the plant manager and the maintenance manager to deliver robust engineering solutions and to meet plant availability targets
- Undertake all aspects of staff management for direct reports.
- Produce, maintain, commission and authorising site-specific risk assessments and work instructions
- Lead by example and support the site management team to show, promote and acknowledge positive behaviours and develop a proactive safety culture
- Deliver an effective safety and environmental compliance culture for all plant and processes on site
- Direct the operations to deliver on financial and technical performance targets
- Manage all material flows both in and out of site
- Lead and contribute to projects on site
- Ensure downtime of the plant is minimised
- Report on plant performance including budgets, plant availability and project progress (including outages)
- Deliver operational efficiencies and cost-saving solutions
- Maintain and review technical, operational and financial KPI's
- Manage the ERF in line with the Veolia Minimum Requirements (VMR) toolkit standard, VMS, ERF Safety Rules, Environmental Permit requirements and relevant ISO standards
- Ensure VMR and other required inspections are completed and actions closed out in timely manner
- Liaise with relevant experts within your region and across the business to design and implement technical solutions
- Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement
- Develop site knowledge and procedures for abnormal and emergency situations to allow effective management of such scenarios i.e. troubleshooting, breakdowns
- Deliver technical and non-technical presentations; host visits and tours to serve current and potential customers and other interested parties
- Manage the operation of a Clinical Waste Incinerator
- Supporting the Environmental Compliance Engineer to ensure compliance to regulations relating to Clinical and Hazardous waste that is permitted to be processed on site
What are we looking for?
- Experience of managing a team of people including coaching and motivating
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
- Mechanical / Electrical Engineer to HNC
Desirable qualifications
- C&G Small Thermal Plant Operation
- Leadership training (CMI or ILM)
- Fundamental of pressure systems
- Boiler house water treatment
- High voltage operational safety
- NEBOSH Certificate
- City and Guilds Confined Space
- Senior Authorised Person
