Operations Manager

Operations Manager Newton Abbot

Vallance Ltd
Full Time Newton Abbot 30000 - 35000 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Avaliable Job Today Due to continued expansion a new role has become available within Vallance Ltd. The management of contracts and quoting of works has always been carried out by the directors. However, with increased workloads and continuous enquiries the workload has become too big for one person. We are not sure 'Operations Manager' fully encompasses the role but hope that the right candidate can forge their own path and position within the business.

Vallance Ltd has a varied work base and clientele across the South West. Over the years we have grown year on year within the renewables sector providing O&M services to some of the biggest Solar O&M providers in the UK. These works include ongoing annual maintenance works such as grass cutting, spraying and hedge cutting. As well as ad hoc site repair works such as fencing repairs, new fence installation, repairs and installation of site trackways, ditching, tree works, etc. Our reputation and high level of work has always self generated new works, however we believe that the right individual promoting Vallance Ltd would secure further works and new clients.

Vallance Ltd - Examples of works

  • Annual O&M works on Solar Sites - Grass cutting and spraying (summer months) and hedge cutting (winter months)
  • Solar Site Maintenance - Fence repairs and installation. Site track repair and installation. Tree works (either done with own machinery or we work alongside our approved tree surgery contractor).
  • Site clearance - Using our machinery we are involved with site clearance for construction and ecological works.
  • Forestry Flailing - We have a contract with Forestry England for flailing works on their forests in Devon and Cornwall.
  • Work within Agriculture - Groundworks for shed construction, bulk excavation for slurry lagoons. Baling, Cultivation, hedge cutting, dung spreading.

Duties:

  • Pricing works - Completing a site survey and pricing any works that have been self generated or requested via our clients.
  • Managing projects - Scheduling and managing works from start to finish alongside the office team. You would need to liaise with client, prepare H&S paperwork, plan mobilisation and manage works to completion.
  • Business Development - Actively seek new works, either through generation of works with existing clients or expanding our current client base. We would be open to a bonus scheme for works generated and completed.
  • Day to day planning - Working alongside directors and staff in planning works. During the summer months we have a full time team carrying out O&M solar works. These sites are spread across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Wiltshire.
  • Recruitment - As the company grows, assist with the recruitment of staff.
  • Procedures and Policies - Ensure all Health, Safety and Quality procedure and policies are adhered to in order to provide a safe and secure working environment.

The above is very much a brief overview of what we are hoping to find in the right candidate. We believe the right candidate will be looking for an exciting new opportunity to start a career in a job that they can essentially make their own. We are a family business that very much appreciates our employees and hope to make their working environments enjoyable and friendly. Vallance Ltd has been operating for 10 years and we believe the next 10 can be equally as exciting with the right staff structure.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong work ethic
  • Good leadership skills
  • Works well within a team but also self motivated when working alone.
  • Experience within Agriculture, Constructions or renewables (does not have to be all)
  • Happy to consider an experienced operative or site supervisor from the industry looking for career progression.
  • Willingness to learn - We actively train to ensure our staff are equipment with the skills to complete the tasks required. Our clients have very clear training requirements and we ensure we follows their procedure's and policies.
  • Qualifications - I could list many qualifications which would be desirable such as IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS, SSSTS but these are not essential. With good experience behind you we would be willing to discuss and implement a training plan.
