Job Description


JOB PURPOSE

Ensures processing of inventory is handled in a timely manner and maintains procedure requirements in the Distribution Center.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS

  • Communicate with all levels of management and hourly employees to maintain smooth volumes while ensuring all procedure requirements are met in a timely manner
  • Assist in managing the general set-up for the next day's business in department specifics, as well as maintaining DC service levels by monitoring the opening and closing of waves (tasks) and checking and following up on daily emails
  • Monitor work in progress and provide timely feedback to upper management using email or telecom
  • Follow up with subordinates to ensure the business is on track
  • Manage floor personnel to ensure that work operates at the highest level of productivity throughout the day
  • Manage Chute Pick/Pack, VAS, Ticking, Corrugated Deck Operations while maintaining stock inventor
  • Attend management/safety meetings regularly, maintain a safe/clean environment, assist with Daily Startup Meetings that always include a Safety Topic, report any safety infractions, and follow all safety rules/guidelines associated with the department/company
  • Assist in training new personnel as needed and as directed by your superiors. Assess new personnel on job functions, expediency, and efficiency, and share this information with colleagues and superiors as needed
  • Maintain department/company performance goals, stay on task with administrative responsibilities (new hire orientation checklists, time sheets, department production hours, shift updates, requisitions, transfer documents, department training forms, etc.) in a timely manner
  • Effectively and consistently communicate with management, peers, and employees to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate completion of daily work tasks
  • Possess strong time and priority management skills by balancing priorities, labor, and tools to ensure operational deadlines are met efficiently and accurately
  • Demonstrate the ability to problem-solve, adapt, and execute when faced with new challenges
  • Hold self and team accountable to business expectations, processes, and set standards, fostering a sense of ownership
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to read and adapt communication type and style to different situations and people
  • Partner with the Human Resources Department regarding reviews, interviewing, hiring, terminations, and corrective counseling within the responsible area
  • Other duties as necessary to maintain Distribution Center daily operations

Job Requirements

  • Onsite at the Distribution Centre
  • Demonstrable experience in WMS, database query management (AS400 is preferred).
  • System knowledge of Ortec, Commander, PKMS, would be an advantage.
  • Experience and understanding of operational processes and flows.
  • PC, MS Office experience required
  • Analysis, research and planning skills are essential.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must possess organizational skills
  • Must have a positive attitude as well as service oriented
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow the directives of management
  • Must have the willingness and desire to learn
  • Detail oriented, highly organized and ability to work autonomously
  • Perform other general duties as required
  • Must always work safe and professional
  • Ability and willingness to contribute hands on
  • Good conceptual knowledge of relational database
  • Experience working in a Distribution Centre would be advantageous
  • Must have the ability to focus and make quick sound decisions
  • Must be able to work independently and/or in a group environment
  • Must have excellent communication skills, work ethic, punctual and reliable
  • Proficient with English.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 3+ year(s) experience in Warehousing, Processing; Pick/Pack, operations or equivalent

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel.
