The Seals and Bearings business of Morgan Advanced Materials makes high-performance self-lubricating bearing and seal components, predominantly used in pumps, industrial and domestic, or other sealing applications.

We use advanced carbon/graphite, silicon carbide, alumina and zirconia materials to engineer lightweight, low-friction bearings and seals. These materials help solve the problems associated with the use of lubricants in extreme temperatures, corrosive or hygienic environments where access is restricted, and are engineered into products which provide customer-specific solutions.

Key Figures: Revenue £1,112m (2022), ~8,500 employees, manufacturing in 30+ countries, and a global customer portfolio. A UK PLC with head office located in Windsor, Berkshire UK. Listed on London Stock Exchange; Member of the FTSE 250 Index.

Responsibilities:

OVERVIEW OF ENGINEERING & SCOPE OF ROLE:

To learn how to service and repair company equipment. To undertake structured training through ‘on the job’ and external day release at the local college.
Covering areas of engineering to include mechanical, CNC, maintenance and toolroom skills.
With the objective to be fully trained to be able to take up a full- time skilled Engineering/CNC position with Morgan Technical Ceramics Ltd.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILIITIES:

  • Learn how to install, repair and carry out planned maintenance of company equipment to company specifications
  • Undertake an appropriate engineering apprenticeship, completing set modules on time and attending college as necessary
  • Work shadow a colleague and develop an understanding of workshop procedures through on the job training
  • Attend manufacturers training and other training courses as appropriate
  • Learn company administrative procedures, and how to complete worksheets, timesheets etc.
  • Ensure security and correct use and issue of all tools and spares issued
  • Understand and adhere to all company, legislative and Health & Safety procedures
  • Under close supervision, ensure all work undertaken meets industry and company work standards
  • Undertake other duties which the company may from time to time reasonably request

Qualifications:
SKILLS:

  • Good self-management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to maintain successful relationships with colleagues and team.
  • Excellent analytical skills/ability to solve problems quickly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educated to GCSE, Grade 5 or above in Maths, English and Science.
  • Advanced Apprenticeships will generally be structured over 4 years, combining training with a local College and work- based learning and experience.
