Macfarlane Design and Manufacture are a division of Macfarlane Group PLC. We are seeking to appoint an Operations Manager to continue the successful growth track record of our Grantham Manufacturing site.
Our specialist manufacturing site at Grantham designs and manufactures bespoke protective packaging solutions for customers that require protection for high value products during transit and storage. Our customers are UK-wide and span a number of growing key markets including Aerospace, Defense, Electronics, Industrial and Medical Equipment.
Solutions are manufactured using corrugated board, solid fiberboard, softwood timber/plywood, polyethylene foam and a range of complementary products & fittings.
Customers’ requirements can be complex and are often for very expensive products with high levels of quality compliance required.
Operations Manager Role
Reporting to the Divisional Managing Director, this role will support the manufacturing division strategy to grow market share through innovative sustainable solutions, excellent quality, and service within a competitive environment.
Operations Manager Key Duties
Overall responsibility for production, logistics, internal sales, purchasing, quality & maintenance
Ensure customers’ requirements and objectives have been fully understood & are fulfilled
Manage site resources including P&L to ensure profit targets are exceeded
Lead ongoing staff development & training program
Responsible for and delivering continuous improvement initiatives
Contribute to the development of new sustainable solutions for the packaging market
Develop close working relationships with other group sites
Do you have the correct profile?
To apply you must have a successful track record and experience of managing a £10m+ manufacturing operation in a short batch/lead time environment (this is essential). The bespoke nature of our products and intensive service offering relies on effective co-ordination, flexible workforce, and collaboration across all departments to achieve our customers’ high expectations. Team leadership and the ability to motivate circa eighty staff is therefore also a key requirement.
