Position: Operations Manager - Sales

Guhring is one of the leading manufacturers of precision tooling based in Aston, Birmingham. An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to join our team to generate purchasing and sales processes to exceed our budgeted forecast for the standard tooling product range.

You will be an experienced Sales driven Manager who will be responsible for the day to day running of the Internal Sales Office and Warehouse department, with in-depth knowledge and experience in Sales, Purchasing and Distribution. Have the ability to lead change by coaching and motivating the team.

Your duties will include:

1. Oversee and ensure effective operational management of the Internal Sales Office and Warehouse.

2. Review and develop operational processes to improve service and maximise sales growth

3. Build and promote strong customer/supplier relationships, understanding their needs and negotiating discounts to achieve increased profits and sales targets

4. Develop and implement measurable KPI’s

5. Setting pricing structure for new products in line with market trends and competitors

6. Produce and analyse reports

7. Work as part of the Management Team to implement and maintain continual improvement to drive high performance and growth

To succeed in this role, you must have excellent knowledge of precision cutting tool application and other services provided. Be customer driven and have a pro-active approach. Previous managerial experience with organisational and proven leadership skills who can communicate confidently. Experience in managing CRM usage and utilising data to manage performance. Knowledge of MS Office applications will be required and awareness of SAP is favourable but training will be given.

The role is office based but may require the successful individual to travel on occasion to Germany to our parent Company.

Job Purpose

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in sales, purchasing and distribution. With the ability to lead change by coaching and motivating and always retaining a positive attitude.

Key Accountabilities

1. Managing daily operations within the Internal Sales Office and Warehouse
2. Review and develop operational processes to improve service and maximise sales growth
3. Build and promote strong customer/supplier relationships, understanding their needs and negotiating discounts to achieve increased profits and sales targets
4. Develop and implement measurable KPI’s
5. Setting pricing structure for new products in line with market trends and competitors
6. Produce and analyse reports
7. Work as part of the Management Team, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement within the Company
8. Any other associated duties

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Specifications

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of cutting tool products and other services provided.
  • Proven experience as a purchasing or distribution manager
  • Experience of working within the distribution trade
  • Customer driven and have a pro-active approach with excellent communication skills
  • Skilled in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint) experience with SAP is desirable
  • Outstanding organisational skills
