Due to this continued success, we’re looking to recruit an Operations Manager to join our ever-expanding team. Reporting directly to our soon to be appointed Managing Director, this role will play a crucial role in establishing and leading our Operations Department.

Who Are We?
GivEnergy is a manufacturer of electronic equipment designed to manage energy use and production. Our mission is to empower energy freedom for all. We specialise in our range of inverters and battery systems which allow our users to store their renewable/cheap-rate energy, ease pressure on the grid and save some serious money. Last year we diversified into the smart plug arena (providing our end-users with real-time data and autonomy of energy usage) and we have plans to roll-out our very own electric vehicle charger and all-in-one system over the next year. On top of all this, GivEnergy Europe was formed at the end of 2022, and we’re excited to continue our success across the pond.

What you’ll be doing:
Key accountabilities for this role will be to:
- Direct and control the work and resources of the businesses operations, helping to drive its mission of empowering energy freedom for all.
- Establish and oversee the Operations Department, collaborating closely with the executive team to define objectives, strategies, and key performance indicators for the department.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement measures to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and increase overall operational efficiency.
- Manage and optimise the supply chain, including inventory management, procurement, and logistics, to ensure timely delivery of products or services.
- Lead and mentor a team of operations staff, including the Heads of Health & Safety, Warehousing, and Supply Chain, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster a high-performing and cohesive department.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, particularly Sales and Finance, to ensure effective communication and coordination of operational activities.
- Monitor and analyse key performance metrics, prepare regular reports, and present findings and recommendations to senior management.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in operations management, and recommend innovative solutions to improve processes and drive business growth.
- Implement and maintain robust systems for quality control and risk management, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards, especially regarding goods movement and lithium-ion batteries.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountability within the Operations Department.
- Spearhead the implementation of operations management software and tools, including potential warehouse management software, to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Warehouse management:
- Goods inwards: put away, replenishment and picking.
- Goods outwards: across one primary and one secondary warehouse.
- Managing the UK import of product with designated freight forwarding partner, and managing strategy stock transfers to other regions e.g. EU, and Africa.
- Manage the transport and logistics of all shipment in the UK across a range of carrier solutions.
- Managing the stock in the Field Service loop and stock in the repair process from customers, including replacement and reverse logistics.
- Working closely with Sales and Marketing to create a demand forecast and then create a stock ordering plan with the GivEnergy factory in China to replenish stock and direct shipment to customers. Planning the new product development stock plans and cut over from old to new products.
- Manage all stock in the UK ensuring goods in and out are accurately recorded and reconciled with the financial records.
What we’re looking for:
This role will be a combination of office and site based, so being able to commute to Stoke-on-Trent is really important. Due to the seniority of this role, we’re looking for the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus, OR Proven work experience as an Operations Manager or in a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing/renewables/energy storage/distribution industry.
- Strong knowledge of operations management principles, supply chain management, and process improvement methodologies.
- Experience in logistics and import of goods from China.
- A background in a distribution business would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing and leading operational departments or teams.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify problems, analyse data, and develop effective solutions.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and initiatives concurrently.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using operations management software and tools.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards in the energy storage industry, especially regarding goods movement and lithium-ion batteries.
