Position: Operations Manager
Location: Thrapston - NN14 4QT
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)
Shift pattern: Mon-Fri 40hrs per week (08:00-16:00) However, flexibility will be required depending on business needs

Role Purpose:

  • To take operational leadership and budget responsibility for managing a safe and efficient retail inbound operation to help achieve operational standards and the customer(s).
  • To enable and establish the new standards of operation.

Accountabilities:

  • Take responsibility for managing and running a safe operation and driving a Safety First Culture with all individuals in the operation by applying and improving the Safety Standards
  • Driving continuous improvement quarter-on-quarter based on removing barriers to improved performance for the department where necessary
  • Communicate Objectives & KPIs applicable to your team (Second Line Leadership), align the expected frequency for tracking them, how the results are calculated and on which report they can find the results - including communication to new leaders on your team as part of the onboarding process
  • Update Monthly Resource Planning, based on volume and volume profile forecast (info from customer) and align actions needed with site manager if necessary (hiring, temporary labor, labor share, etc.)
  • Ensure direct reports appraise their team members and approve the performance ratings of the reviews, ensuring overall consistency across the site
  • Demonstrate an active leadership style, taking full responsibility for driving an engagement culture in the operation
  • Responsibility for recruiting and developing team and managing performance within local guidelines, with resource support as appropriate
  • Ensure adequate security measures are in place to protect the operation, including the safety of personnel, DSC assets and of the customer's product for the operation or section of the operation
  • Conduct regular reviews (e.g. monthly) with customer on operational performance and delivery against the agreed KPIs.

Requirements:

  • Operations experience managing a team
  • Line management experience
  • Customer facing experience, is an advantage
  • Capability of deploying strategic plans for the operation
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to develop and deploy short and medium term resource plans for the operational area
  • Strong management skills
  • Ability to manage customer relationship
  • Ability to drive Standards within the operations
  • Financial acumen, budget management
  • Good balance of Results and respect approach
  • Conflict resolution
  • Intermediate educational level
  • All Licenses and trainings operating on that site or area (i.e. LSHC requirements,sector or dangerous goods, etc)
