This is a great opportunity for an excellent manager who excels at managing their people to deliver operational targets, achieving objectives and cost efficiencies.
The Role
This challenging and rewarding role is heavily focused towards performance management. You will be responsible for leading your teams to deliver an efficient and safe repair & maintenance service that delights our South East Water Client and customers.
Everything that you do will be underpinned by our core values and your talents as an operational manager. Yours will be a close working relationship with the Contract Manager and the Client representative and this is your opportunity to influence how work gets done to achieve success safely, and within budget, maximising operational performance whilst maintaining appropriate safety and quality standards.
These are just some of the activities you’ll be involved with:
- Leading and inspiring operational teams to deliver
- Reducing customer complaints by encouraging a “right first time” culture
- Creating and implementing innovative strategies, processes and procedures to ensure commercial and operational efficiency
- Managing the approval and review of contractor method statements, preparing and reviewing risk assessments and issuing H&S documentation
- Undertaking regular safety audits / audits of work activity; identifying safety hazards and ensuring controls are implemented
- Managing vehicles and drivers to comply with our driving standards policy and highway code

Excellent people management and delivery skills, backed up with strengths in managing clients and stakeholders and exceptional communications skills.
Commercial awareness, diplomacy and independent decision-making are key, as you will frequently find yourself balancing client expectations with contractual requirements and business needs.
It’s highly likely that you will have gained credibility in a similar role working in a relevant sector and gained IOSH as well as NRSWA qualification. SMSTS, ILM (or equivalent) and CDM training will help you succeed in this demanding environment.
