British Gas Zero exists to increase and accelerate the impact of British Gas in the energy transition in UK homes. Centrica is uniquely placed to be the leading business driving the energy transition across the UK housing stock. By creating a more autonomous group focused on Net Zero, we intend to quickly establish:
Unrivalled economies of scale and efficiency in the installation, integration and management of electrification assets in the home
A unique consumer home energy management value proposition that significantly increases stickiness with British Gas as well as offering a compelling value exchange between consumer and business
The strongest network of partners that will allow us to unlock growth (from Metro Mayors; to OEMs; to LAHAs; to retailers; to new build developers; to banks and beyond)
British Gas Zero operates with the characteristics of a private-equity backed business, with a clear mid-term investment thesis, a highly motivated leadership team, relentless pursuit of a small number of near-term KPIs, unwilling to accept barriers to our success.
We're now in search of a Head of Operations who will report to the British Gas Zero Fulfilment Director and will be responsible for setting up and running a best-in-class Net Zero operation. This critical role will be responsible for leading all of our customer facing and fulfilment teams, including our engineers in customers’ homes and service delivery partners.
The Head of Operations will ensure we deliver a brilliant customer experience every time, reflecting local market dynamics and putting safety first.
Key accountabilities
Own and deliver a safety strategy that is embedded in everything we do ensuring customer and colleague safety is our number one priority
Lead an effective, localised fulfilment operating model with trusted, highly skilled people. Delivering a frictionless, effortless experience for customers
Implement process and operating rhythm that results in operational rigour and a continuous improvement culture
Using our Purpose, inspire Field, Planning and Customer Contact teams working across the full Net Zero product range
Remove barriers and create the path to enable the delivery of our OKRs not compromising operational excellence
Apply external best practice to the day-to-day operation, including learning from outside the traditional energy sector
Previous experience
Demonstrable experience of applying a growth mindset to deliver significant and sustainable improvements in business performance
Preferred knowledge and understanding of Net Zero products & services
Experience of building, inspiring and motivating teams
Proven experience of running a successful operation, driving for commercial OKRs
Proven capability in leading & supporting virtual, diverse teams being able to influence at pace and remotely
Highly effective communicator, excellent at building internal and external relationships and managing relationships to optimise value
Excellent analytical skills
Competencies

Intellectual horsepower to understand the detail, alongside the complexity, and still drive the strategic aims of the business plan
Experience working within a commercially focused team, with demonstrable experience of managing key deliverables to time, including multiple targets and balancing priorities
Previous experience working in an agile, matrixed organisation advantageous
Not afraid to challenge the status quo
