Operations IT is a global IT capability supporting the Global Operations organisation. We business partner with Operations capability areas: Pharmaceutical Technology Development, Manufacturing & Global Engineering, Quality Control, Sustainability, Supply Chain, Logistics and Global External Sourcing and Procurement. We operate out of Operations hub sites including in the UK, Sweden, US, and China; and out of our Global Technology Centres in India and Mexico.

THIS IS WHAT YOU’LL DO
We are recruiting a Data Domain Lead to join our Data, Analytics & AI group, aligned to Plan, Source, Deliver & ERP global capability.
As the Data Domain Lead, you will apply product thinking and own the effort to bring about a step-change in how we develop and run data products. This will involve building out the people, processes and technology to meet business requirements and architectural strategy. Your team will be accountable for harvesting, storing, quality checking, transforming, and visualising Operations data, build out reusable data products, which users from Operations units can self-service for analytics and AI/ML workflows. You will also play a key leading role in setting up the data product operating model, roadmap, prioritisation and work with solution architecture to create a technology roadmap. You will be accountable for the efficient, secure and complaint running of data analytics solutions.
It is our goal to create scalable solutions to support the development of valuable data solutions and address broad range of data use cases from Operations, including batch analytics based on data warehousing, data mart, and emerging use cases on real-time analytics based on streaming.
Our technology is focused around the AWS stack, existing technical components include S3, SAP HANA, SAP MDG, Amazon EMR, Qlik Replicate, Qlik Sense, Power BI. Moving forward, we aim to simply our technology estate and roll out modern data engineering stack, such as: Snowflake, DBT, AWS Kinesis.
You will be responsible for building and leading a team consisting of Insight Analysts, Scrum Masters, Data Engineers. The core of our development and support team are based in Chennai, with other technical expertise based in the UK and Sweden. You will also work closely with the Enterprise IGNITE teams to leverage central Enterprise Data Platforms for Data Cataloguing, Master Data Management and Reference Data Management.
You will need a collaborative delivery approach to be successful. We prefer to use Agile but choose the appropriate approach for the project. So, experience of a variety of delivery management methodologies would come in useful. You will provide both product and technical leadership throughout our software development lifecycle, from the initial development of a technical design based on a blueprint, right through to hypercare.
YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE
Significant experience of successfully managing and delivering complex data solutions for enterprise level businesses
Knowledge of Data Mesh and Data Product, in particular, experience with delivering and managing data products
Strong analytical capability with strong partner management/engagement
Knowledge of data architectures, design including dimensional modelling
Knowledge of cloud-based data management services: AWS, or equivalent
Master Data experience and managing relational, non-relational and semi structured data repositories
Complex data & BI platform service & support management (including ITIL skills)
In addition, candidates will be expected to demonstrate:
People leadership – in developing and leading successful data teams in complex international organisations. Understanding of people motivation, drivers and development goals
Critical thinking – understanding challenges, opportunities through evolving technology/methodology and formulating into tangible roadmaps with clear business value.
Business Leadership – ability to partner and collaborate across both IT and Operations teams to provide optimum benefit to Operations. Ability to identify new opportunities and to network to develop cases/proposals to meet desired outcome.
Advanced experience with project delivery and agile methodologies
Influencing and innovation skills
It is also desirable for candidates to demonstrate:
Domain knowledge: Understanding of Plan, Source, Deliver & ERP business domain. Understanding of the structure, provenance and meaning of the source data crucial to these data domains.
Knowledge of data privacy, GxP, GDPR regulation
