Job description
We’re looking for someone to have oversight of our railway operations. You'll ensure that the requirements of the railway’s safety governance, through our Safety Management System, are discharged at all times. You’ll provide the structural framework to allow the safe and efficient operation of trains and, through the Head of Operations, ensure that staff are, and always remain, Competent to undertake their duties. You’ll also hold overall responsibility for regulatory compliance.
You’ll work closely with other Directorates, especially Engineering, Infrastructure, and Visitor Services & Volunteering, to foster a spirit of collaboration, ensure volunteering remains at the heart of the organisation, and work activities are prioritised and delivered on time and budget.
Key skills
- Knowledge of railway operations, either on the mainline or in a similar heritage environment.
- Strong leadership skills with ability to manage, motivate and influence staff and volunteer teams
- Be used to working in, and leading, a compliance-based environment
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to risk management
