We provide technical personnel, maintenance services and sector specific safety & technical training. We are a market leader in our sector with an established blue chip client base to be proud of. ​

As a result of a significant pipeline and industry opportunity we are seeking to appoint an Operations Director to support the Managing Director in driving the strategy by providing clear direction and leading the day to day operational running of this growing business. Beyond this, the successful applicant will have a genuine passion for success and desire to make a difference, with the ability to develop and lead a winning team.

The position will be based from Beverley, East Yorkshire and the direct report will be the Managing Director. International travel will be required, as you would expect in a key leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational day to day management of the Boston Energy business
  • Accountable for the operational delivery of the strategic plan and ultimate satisfaction of our customer base
  • Through influence and collaboration, develop capability across the team – including people development, business development, as well as through process and systems adherence
  • Current Revenue of £26M, expectation that the team deliver year on year growth of at least 20% in line with current industry trends
  • Working proactively with the team to drive the growth of market share across each of Boston Energy’s geographical markets and service offerings
  • ​Monitor customer and industry needs to identify and develop new opportunities ahead of our competition
  • Ability to drive the business forward through multiple workstreams
  • Work with the Board of Directors to accelerate Boston Energy’s position as a market leader
  • Recruiting and developing a team to deliver on the strategy.
  • P & L responsibility for on budget delivery of live operations.
  • Responsible for maintaining and developing existing customer

relationships through good service and a continuous improvement approach.

  • Leading a team with ultimate responsibility of managing and fulfilling the needs of a multi-customer and multi-project portfolio.
  • Ensure frequent and ongoing engagement with our established technician workforce.
  • Develop, implement, and manage the team against individual and team KPI’s that align to the core business strategy.
  • Demonstrate the company values of quality, reliability, integrity, safety and fairness through your own actions and the way that you lead your team.
  • Ensure team adherence to Group process, systems, and quality procedures, communicating closely with Group departments such as Finance and Marketing.

Desired Experience

  • Working as a Senior Manager / Leader / Head of with extensive experience of people and customer management ​
  • Experience of leading a volume, multisite operation ​
  • Experience of operating in a high growth environment.
  • A highly effective communicator at all levels able to quickly install confidence in your experience and authority as a leader ​
  • Leading a large team, (circa 20) coordinating remote working relationships across multiple disciplines and regions ​
  • Managing P&L and understanding the different elements that drive performance and positive results ​
  • Leverage data and analytics generated to improve the operational performance and support informed decision making​
  • Drive forward new initiatives which improve Boston Energy’s profitability and the customer and technician experience ​
  • The ability and capacity to develop a deep understanding of the wind energy industry and Boston Energy’s position within this important and growing sector ​

  • Whilst sector knowledge will be an advantage, it is not essential if the candidate can demonstrate their interest in the renewable energy sector.
  • A willingness to share knowledge and ideas within the organisation
  • A good listener able to drill down on core customer needs
  • Hands on, prepared to work at all levels to support the growth of a young business.
  • Values driven and company focused.
  • Prepared to invest the demanding time required to grow a new business
  • Culturally aware and ability to demonstrate this.
  • Previous experience working overseas or for a European based business will be advantageous.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and voice communication skills
  • Traditional Education path to degree level or above followed by at least 5 – 10 years in work
  • A willingness to travel to deliver on the core strategy.
  • Must be able to demonstrate previous leadership experience at this level in another similar commercial organisation.
  • Must have the desire, energy, and drive to build a business from the grass roots upwards.
  • Previous management of multiple- Account Managers/ Area Heads
  • Able to demonstrate experience of managing through delegated authority, while supporting the team to ensure KPI’s are met through detailed review and analysis.
