Job Overview
Main purpose
- To provide leadership, oversight and interface management of all engineering work associated with Projects and Operations.
- Line Management of all the discipline Technical Authorities in the business. Resolve any competing priorities in the engineering team.
- Post holder will provide oversight of the engineering work to support operations and projects.
- Develops engineering management plans, appropriate to manage the engineering activities and ensure all completed as required by projects/ operations.
- Ensure engineering is performed and compliant with required standards, implement technical assurance systems and processes to ensure safe design.
- Ensure application of appropriate expertise to facilitate robust and competitive engineering solutions. Challenge thinking where appropriate through strong teamwork and integration with contractors, suppliers, and operations.
- Act as a technical focal point for the EPC contractor to ensure a quality delivery of the engineering service by the contractor.
Key Accountabilities
- Present and explain engineering, quality and interface aspects to broad range of stakeholders to educate and influence decision making.
- Define and agree scope of engineering work to be performed by engineering teams.
- Ensure alignment of engineering deliverables with overall projects/ operational requirements.
- Define technical standards and ensure all engineering deliverables are compliant against standards set and delivered to the required quality.
- Provide oversight and ensure that systems and processes are in place to ensure all technical interfaces are adequately addressed.
- Work with internal / external stakeholders, external contracted parties and vendors/contractors to develop appropriate engineering solutions.
- Ensure input from technical authorities to projects and operations in a timely manner.
- Initiate, prepare and participate in peer reviews, peer assists and other assurance activities related to engineering and quality delivery.
- Lead and/or participate in technical team meetings and strategy discussions; influence decision making across engineering disciplines where appropriate.
- Intervene and develop mitigation plans with contractors and suppliers to ensure operational/ project engineering deliverables remain on track.
- Define engineering organisation and secure discipline engineering resources as appropriate. Recruit, lead, coach, develop and provide timely Performance Assessments for any direct reports.
- Keep abreast of technological and engineering process advancements through affiliation with professional societies and participation in networks, workshops, seminars, and training courses.
Key Stakeholders and Working Relationships
- Internal stakeholder: Operations, Project Management, Finance, HSE, Supply Chain, Energy Transition Team
- External stakeholders / relationships: 3rd party engineering contractor(s), vendors and other supply chain service providers.
