Job Summary:
As our Operations and Fulfillment Manager, you will take ownership of all manufacturing and warehousing activities in our new manufacturing facility in the U.K. This role has overall oversight of all manufacturing activities for the UK plant. You will manage day-to-day facility operations within a new manufacturing site, employing lean practices to develop an exceptional team focused on quality, safety, efficiency and cost.
In addition, you will work closely with the engineering and supply chain teams to identify areas of improvement and help build best practices. You will be expected to take ownership of initiatives outside of your area, drive change and eventually use this to improve your operational KPIs.
As a key member of the plant management team, you will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement and operational excellence. You will be the go-to person for all operational activities and will be ready to step in on behalf of the Plant Manager. *This role will be based full time at our manufacturing facility in Birmingham*
What You'll Do:
- Hire, train, coach and manage associates, leads and supervisors
- Role model safety protocols followed at the facility, participate in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities while driving plant safety culture
- Oversee activities of the operations team including plant start-up and shut-down
- Oversee activities of warehousing team including shipping preparation, order returns and quality control
- Maintain strong relationships with the supply chain and customer experience teams to ensure our value of customer first is always achieved
- Manage order processing with your team to ensure aged orders are kept to a minimum
- Manage the Safety, Quality, People, Performance, Delivery and Cost KPIs for the plant
- Establish and maintain inventory control processes, shipping and receiving records, and order processes
- Control inventory levels by organizing and conducting physical counts and reconciliations and work with local vendors to maintain inventory and supplies that are locally sourced
- Ensure team achieve operational KPIs, including productivity and labor cost, based on resourcing and production targets set by team
- Identify and implement new opportunities to improve performance and productivity
- Work with a sense of urgency to ensure that operational plans are executed, performance and budget goals are achieved, and teams are kept informed and coordinated across functions
- Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of production activities with other functions such as Maintenance, Engineering and Supply Chain
- Allocate resources effectively, fully utilize assets to produce optimal results, and trigger corrective actions when necessary
- Demonstrate a lean mindset, particularly in driving down defects and wastage to target level
- Contribute to overall business planning, to include weekly and monthly forecasting processes
What You'll Need to Have:
Required:
- 5+ years' experience in a senior operations leadership role, with a significant proportion to include warehousing and supply chain exposure
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment (FMCG, Engineering etc.)
- Strong presence and communication skills, both oral and written with both internal and external stakeholders
- Strong financial acumen – the ability to connect operational levers to financial statements
Preferred:
- Business qualification
- Demonstrated experience in driving improvements and growth over a sustained period
Compensation:
- 65,000-72,000 GBP per year
- Annual bonus percentage dependent on level of role
