Join our small but growing team to effect positive change for an invisible group of young people: those impacted by parental imprisonment.
Job Summary: Children Heard and Seen is a charity that works solely to support children and families affected by imprisonment. The responsibilities of this post will involve directly supporting families impacted, and also supporting the senior Case Work team in various projects and activities.
Suitability: This is an ideal post for someone with a desire to help create lasting change and improve outcomes for vulnerable children and their families. This role is suited to someone who would potentially like to become a teacher, social worker or work in a related role. Oxfordshire-based applicants are preferred as it means face-to-face meetings with the rest of the team are possible, however this position can be undertaken from anywhere in the country.
Working Hours: There are 3 roles available, ranging between 7-15 hours per week. Primarily weekday evenings (after 4:30pm) and weekends.

The main responsibilities of the role include:
· Provide online one-to-one support to families affected by parental imprisonment
· Support the delivery of virtual group sessions for children and young people who have a parent in prison, and support delivery of group sessions for parents caring for children impacted by parental imprisonment.
· Adopt flexible working while maintaining appropriate boundaries in provision of support, advice, and guidance to service users
· Provide regular feedback to your line manager.
· Seek support and help from Family & Project Operational Manager when appropriate and necessary. Regular supervision will be given, and the opportunity to debrief at other times will be paramount.
· To apply safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Person Specification – Selection Criteria:
Essential:
· Minimum studying towards/completed undergraduate degree
· An understanding of working with disadvantaged or vulnerable groups
· Good negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to relate sensitively to the needs of prisoner’s families
· Ability to work with a wide variety of people at all levels
· Ability and willingness to work independently and as part of a team
· Ability to prioritise/manage work load in a pressurised environment
· Computer literate
· Honest, punctual, reliable and trustworthy
· Able to maintain confidentiality
· Willing to undertake relevant training
· Good communication and listening skills
· Ability to build and maintain rapport with adults and children
· Calmness under pressure and when dealing with challenging or confrontational behaviour
· Resilience and the ability to cope with emotionally-draining and traumatic situations
· Commitment to making a positive difference to the lives of service users
· A positive, non-judgemental, empathetic and sensitive approach
