Hours of operation: Monday to Friday 8am-8pm and Saturday & Sundays 9am-6pm
Salary Range: £24,500-27,500 FTE (salary offers will be based on what we know about your existing experience, skills, and knowledge)
Location: Fully Remote, Home based

About the Role
Macmillan provides a safe and supportive online community for people affected by cancer and other key Macmillan audiences, and we are excited to be able to offer a chance to join the team.
In this role, you will join a team of Online Community Officers, using your experience, skills and knowledge to provide up-to-date and accurate information to the community. You will create and publish quality content, moderate existing content, and respond to enquiries from community members. You will also be leading the way in maintaining the safe and supportive environment of the Community for all members.
You must be able to handle complex communication in a professional and supportive way, providing holistic support while maintaining appropriate boundaries. You will be comfortable using your initiative and working independently when required, but also be able to collaborate with the rest of the team.
You will use your excellent digital skills and enthusiasm for emerging technology to aid our digital delivery and assist your team in this area. It’s a challenging but very rewarding role in which you will measure your success by the continued successful growth of the Community and the quality of the content on the Community.
About You
Your track record should demonstrate that you are an effective communicator and have knowledge of online communities.
To do this role you will have:
- Current knowledge of online communities and social media
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience creating and moderating online content
- An understanding of the needs of people living with and affected by cancer
- Good digital skills and an appetite for embracing the use of new technology
- Experience using the Microsoft Office suite of applications
As this is a home-based role you will need:
- A reliable broadband connection with upload and download speeds of at least 3mbps.
- To comply with strict data protection rules you must have a private confidential space to work from. We will provide all IT equipment needed for the role.
Please note there may be rare occasions where you will have to travel to one of our offices (London, Glasgow or Shipley - W. Yorkshire) for events or meetings. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Working Hours
The service operates 365 days per year and hours will be worked flexibly between 08:00-20:15, Monday to Sunday. Where a bank holiday is worked, a day would not be deducted from the standard 8 days entitlement, allowing you to take this day off at another time. Time off in lieu will also apply to hours worked on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.
